    Default Knee pain?

So last night, I decided to play some rat/drop in hockey. I played well, and I usually test and tune different moves during these times. I really didn't play any differently than I usually do. I woke up this morning with knee pain. (I used to be a paramedic, so I'll keep in simple). The pain in located in the inner portion of my knee, like where the MCL would run. It doesn't feel like your typical knee pain, but more of a throbbing, sharp, dull constant pain throughout the knee, right where your MCL connects. It's really difficult to describe, as I am feeling pretty much all the different types of pain there are. On to my question: Has anyone ever strained or torn their MCL before? How does it feel? Am I experiencing this pain because I didn't stretch enough before hand?

This pain is not crippling, so I don't think I have a tear, but it is definately just painful enough, and a new kind of pain to alarm me. If this is the start of a potentially nasty injury, I'd like to know now, so I may be able to prevent it from happening, as I do not want to eventually hurt it to the point where I need surgery. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated!

    It's ok Fullright.

Well updated from last week, my knees seem to be feeling better. I have no constant pain, no pain going up and down stairs, and I even went for a jog yesterday, with no pain at all. Maybe it was just a fluke, I don't know. I play tomorrow night, so I'll let you all know how I feel afterwards.

Sorry I missed the initial message - could have been a mild strain. At first I was wondering about the medial meniscus because of the sharp pain, but with that quick resolution, I doubt it. Let me know how it feels this week after playing.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, the other night it was better, I have no knee pain after playing. Unfortunately though, I took a shot off my elbow, I think it's chipped lol. I just can't win! I will keep an eye on my knees though for sure in the future.

Man - you cannot get a break! Maybe your elbow just hurts so much that you don't notice your knee anymore! Hope your elbow is okay.

Heh, thanks. I know. I'm like Otter over there blogging about how he gets hit in the Mask atleast once a game! Some people just can't catch a break!

There are lots of things you can do - but first let me try to understand your problem a little bit. What happens when your knee 'pops'? What are you doing when it happens? Is it painful or does it just make a pop noise? Is it sore afterward? Let me know and I will post a few ideas for you.
    Cheers,
    Maria

its wierd, i just bend and twist it just right and its like something pops out of place. i can barely straighten out my leg and if i can i cant put any weight on it. its not painful, just annoying. can use it like normal if its bent 90degrees or more. if i sit and pull my ankle up and push down on my knee i can usually get it back. i had an mri and x-ray done on it years ago and they couldnt see anything wrong. ive heard that just a knee brace would help.
