    Hi Gang,

If you do not know what the TRX is, check out the video I posted on my blog showing a nice 'functional' groin stretch/strengthening exercise you can do using it. This is a nice exercise because it let's you practice putting your muscle in a lengthened position while it is contracted. Warning!! You keep your weight through the leg that is on the floor - your are not putting your weight through the leg that is in the TRX - you will pull your groin that way!!

Let me know what you think.

Why don't you set it up on your front porch so all you neighbours can stare and laugh?!! Another option...how often do you really eat at the dining room table - I say get rid of it and install a TRX instead! You are welcome for the helpful tips!

Hey Maria, what do you think of the bowflex machine? How is that for conditioning?

    Default Bowflex...

Basically, something is better than nothing so if that is what you have at home, then get on it and get going. It will not do a whole lot for your conditioning, but it will help you build strength.

My preference for strength training athletes is using equipment that requires the hockey player to stabilize with their core while training the lower body, upper body or both together. If you are looking for some equipment to purchase I would get a very high quality stability ball (duraball pro), some dumbbells, some heavy resistance bands and if I have a little money left over I would get a TRX. If I wanted a weight training machine, I would get a dual cable column or what is often referred to as a functional trainer.

So if you have the Bowflex, go ahead and use it. Are you getting the most bang for your buck? No, but if that is what you have to work with then get to work. Let me know if you have any other questions.
    Cheers,
    Maria

I first worked with the TRX system with Todd Durkin of Fitness Quest 10 during the Under Armour TNP Training Sessions organized for the opening of the UA store in MA. A definite plus and a must have for anyone serious about hitting peak fitness form.
