Ya its something ive wanted to do for a very long time, and i hope the agree with my decision. I dont mind people who do that either just isnt the way im gonna go in the forces (Sorry if i sounded defensive i wasnt trying to be lol). Ya i can see how that might not look the best on a resume haha. I am hoping for this to be a life long career so the attributions it gives me will just make me a better person. Its really unfortunate how people can do such a great job in the military and there attributions are overlooked when they try to get work back home, my grandfather had the same thing he use to be in a control room and everyone overlooked all the great things he gained from the military. Ya i can only imagine the connection you'd get when you train and work with your fellow troops, it would just become like a brotherly bond.

Ya thats what my parents are freaking out about the first thing my dad said was i dont want you to get shot. They just see all the casualties the news shows and it freaks them out and they go to thinking the worst right off the bat.

It sounds like im mostly gonna have to use the stats to prove that its a lot safer than they think. I gonna sound like a recruiter at the end of this lol

I was kind of thinking you could say, "Hey, were Canadians. I'm not going to see combat."

Just kidding. Anyway, if you consider yourself smart enough to get a university degree, I would suggest that you look into becoming an officer. If you are going to make it a life-long career, which is great, officers ... in the long run... will earn way more. At least that's the way it is in the US, and I have friends in the US military, different branches. One is a major in the Army and he's making bank. Another friend has worked his way up to Staff Sergeant in the Army and it's much better than private but not even close to officer pay. His younger brother joined years later in the Air Force, but since he had a college degree, he got in at 2nd lieutenant and makes more from the git go. Just a thought. If that's not your thing, no biggie. Have you thought about joining the RCMP?

Oh, no worries, dude. I didn't think you were being defensive. I just clarified that about the college thing in case anyone else reading what I wrote thought I was sounding uppity about it. ;o)

Keep us posted on how it goes...do you mind if I ask how old you are? Are you thinking you want to join soon?

I was mostly likely going to join as an infantry and then later on once i get some more experience i will be able to apply a transfer to become an officer if thats what i really desire in the moment but as of now i don't have and post secondary education. I have though about joining the rcmp but i don't really feel its for me.

I turned 20 in june and i was hoping to join asap because i would love to get a career going with my life and move forward
