Man do I miss those big yellow pads that MAF used to wear. Some of those saves are absolutely ridiculous.

I am one of the NHL fans that LOVE the shootouts. I absolutely enjoy the excitement from it. But all we ever see are the amazing shootout goals, so I found a video of amazing shootout saves!

I personally don't like when goalies wave the puck around when they catch it...but I reallllly enjoy watching Hiller make glove saves..sickkk
Im adding this vid to my pre game motivational video's
Have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real? What if you could not wake up from that dream, how would you tell the difference between the real world and the dream?
Goalie is not necessarily "waving the puck around". Most of the time that is the basic move of bringing the puck into your center to ensure it does not drop out.
ok..isn't that why a glove closes? since I mentioned Hiller before I will use his video as an example.. I know that in some cases its momentum and for balance purposes but can you tell me the one at :26, :52, 1:12, 1:38, 2:03, is to keep the puck in his glove??
and may as well put this act of show boating on too..
Yes, it may also be a way of showboating the save to the shooter. I don't always know the puck is actually well in the web of the glove so I try to bring my glove saves into my chest or belly to help cover it should it drop out. One danger of this is that you can actually end up flipping the puck around you back into the goal. Happened to me once.
I dunno, I can appreciate a goalie putting a little flair in their save every once and a while![]()
GoalieInGlasses -- ya thats fine if you like it..I just personally don't.
bfolks -- I don't know why goalies cant just catch it, and if you want some insurance then fine pull your glove into your chest..there is a difference from making the around the world glove save and catching a puck and simply pulling it in. And also, in my opinion, you have a better chance of insuring the puck is in your glove by simply catching it..the around the world swing ends with the glove pointed more downward which would lead to more pucks possibly falling out.
p.s - I loved Hiller's matte black mask
Hildy, I'm with you. If I want to goad a player after a glove save, I either point the glove at them, toss the puck in their direction, or drop it and swat it with my stick (a la Roloson). The swinging the arm around seems almost tacky. My former goalie on my team used to do it all the time.
