    Default Scraping your crease.

    • Do you scrape your crease?

    • Do you know why you scrape your crease?

    • Do you feel benefits from it?

I personally don't do it, I think it's a waste of energy and time. I like the crease to be smooth as possible for as long as possible. I know the pro's do it, and I'm told it's supposed to help the consistency of the ice, but really it gets marked up too much in Men's league without ice cleanings between periods.

I used to do it, cuz the flood is stupid where i play - really wet in the crease - so I liked to scrape it up, soak up some of the water, then push it to the posts... but now i'm just too lazy. I'd rather take the time and stay in the change room that extra minute and have another double cheeseburger or something.

i don't scrape at all, never have. It never made sense to me why you would want to mark up the crease and make the ice heavier for you to try and move on. I want the crease to be as smooth as possible when sliding post to post or across the net. I don't want heavy ice to slow me down

I do it for the sake of better slides, it may be counter productive though. Plus its part of my warmup routine for getting my legs moving.
I play hockey because I love the game. I am a goalie because i have all the mental deficiencies that the position requires!

Better slides? It makes for worse slides.

im pretty sure thats why they do it. with their effective technique and the smooth ice the slightest push would send them flying. they mark it up after a fresh zamboni to get a little friction. they dont do it any other time in the game because their crease is maintaned by the snow bunnies!

I only do it on a bad flood, which is all the time! Some guys do it to have a better controled slide. But it nake no difference on my end. Most of the pros do it I believe.

I only scrape if there is alot of water in the crease so it soaks up the pond I find in my crease and then move out all the slush to the side, otherwise I leave it if the ice is nice.

I do it all the time, I find if I don't do it then I slide way to far on my first couple slides.
