From looking at all these pictures of people in their stance, I either need to bend at the knees better or my pads are REALLY short!

BTW Itech, those pads look amazing!

Something more about stance? During last several games I noticed, that I allow easy shots from blue line over my catcher. May it be something with the stance? I usually got enough time to go into position, but when I see the puck coming at me I'm just standing paralyzed...
its called a window maker because well, it makes widows. if you ever catch a semi hard shot of the dome youre done. yes helmets can be expensive but do you wanna keep playing or die from a shot to the head? the helmet is plastic (from what I can tell, may not be) they just arent safe at all

Blainne, even if you're a beginner, you will encounter some idiot who can blast the puck and if it hits you in the head, you're in trouble. Upgrade the head gear asap. If you need some re-enforcement on this issue, google a blow-out fracture of a cheek bone or jaw.

If you're stuck in your stance, it is because your balance is off. If your balance is off, you cant move your arms or your legs. Set your weight on the balls of your feet and take a close look at the stance pics that were given positive comments. You'll notice how those tenders are set from top to bottom. Be patient with yourself; it will come.

Ok, I feel convinced now, as soon as I will get some spare money I'll buy a better mask (hackva maybe).

As for the stance problems, it's not that I can't move - I'm just hypnotized by the puck, I can see it, but my arms move very slowly. I do excersise juggling and tennis ball plays at home often, I'am able to catch really fast shots during warmup drills, but when everything is during movement, in the game, under pressure I just can't focus enough on hands. I think more about good positioning - since this is what I put my efforts on this year. Now I think, that it may be mistake to focus on my body - instead I shall only watch the puck - and my body will automatically do what is necessary - after thousands of repetitions of positioning moves during practices.

You need to relax a little I'm guessing. :) You're doing the right thing focusing on position. Cause if you're in good position, you shouldn't have to react too much. Remember you're supposed to be loose out there.

I have some of the same issues with high glove and blocker shots. If i go down in the butterfly which im getting better at not doing i find that i cant react fast enough to get my hands up to those positions. I figure ill get better but at my age i feel that positioning, good mechanics and good anticipation will be the key as i dont think im ever going to have the fastest re-flexes.
Have you ever had a dream that you were so sure was real? What if you could not wake up from that dream, how would you tell the difference between the real world and the dream?

I know this is through the mesh, but here's a shot from late in the third during a faceoff.

Here is one that my son took of me at practice. I think I need to tuck my elbows in and bend my knees a little more.
