If I think about it, the 4mm blade would provide a better grip then a 3mm blade given the same hollow, albeit not by much.
I have the One100 cowling and 3mm blade on my 7000 boot and it is the best choice ever. I've been using a 3/8th cut since I got them because the 3mm blade is actually player steel shaped to fit a goalie cowling. Bauer did this to save down on their process and producing. I'm sure they have most reasons, but that is my main understanding. The 3mm blade allows me to transfer edges a lot quicker and I can get such a hard push and am able to grab edges, while down, quicker. Moving to this blade and cowling should be THE FIRST THING on the goalie's list of equipment to get. I can personally speak volumes on how much this skate has improved my game and feel on the ice. Seriously, probably my most favorite piece of gear....besides my Maltese :).

^^ I think most of the improvements have been made by the cowling itself, having a taller stance and the cut out. I can see how the 3mm blade would have a quicker transfer from outside to inside edge, but how often are we as goalies on our outside edges? I just purchased these skates and I'm excited to use them. Were you using a 3/8"ROH on your older goal skates too? Also, have you noticed any significant wear to the vertexx cut out? Ive seen some "horror stories" on them and I was a little weary of buying them.

I finally got to play yesterday, but I had a slip-out by the post and a kid walked through me. Someone threw me a speedstick and i figured it'd work. Went out after the ice cut and I couldn't shuffle at all. Probably should've left them the way they were until I got a chance to try sharper blades at practice.

Im currently using a half inch cut, contemplating going 3/8 soon though. If any of you arent using a one100 cowling, put it on your list for next gear upgrade

^^ maybe even taking a file to the inner side of your cowling and add step steel to increase the attack angle a little. just to hold you over until purchase of the ONE100.

I switched this season from 3/4 to 1/2 and it has made a huge difference
In my quickness and in my recovery. The only downside it the get dull really fast so I need to sharpen them more often.

When I started playing last year. I had my skates done at 5/8". I was having a problem with my push slides. I couldn't get enough bite. About a week ago I changed to 1/2". Night and day difference for me. I think after the get dull I might step it up to 7/16" to see how that works.
