Default Bad Habit Producer or Good Idea?

For Christmas I got some nice new rollerblades, but then the next present I got was something*I wanted out of my life the moment I saw them.... wrist guards.
I tried out my new rollerblades, but my Mom made me wear the wrist guards, I noticed that immediately my stickhandling and shooting were TERRIBLE, I couldn't do anything I could normally do on rollerblades such as, slapshots, deking, and passing.*
The worst part came when I tried goalie on these skates, my blocker and catcher couldn't fit on.*
I have now gotten the impression that my Mom is scared to death of me playing my hockey, and although my dad thinks wrist guards are stupid, he enforces this horrible rule.*
I like playing on rollerblades, but I pretty much want to stop.*
What should I do? Are these good or bad?
My Mom even suggested I use them on ice!!!
I have a problem, so my question basically is: wrist guards and rollerblades or no wrist guards and no rollerblades.*
    Any help is appreciated.

Well, if you are just rollerblading around, it's not a big deal. They allow the user to put their hands out when falling forward and prevent injury to their wrists and hands. It's an involutary reaction to put your hands out when falling forward. If you are playing with equipment on, there is no need to wear them. If you playing roller hockey, I would suggest wearing hockey gloves.
They are unnecessary on ice as your hands, if you fall forward and put your hands out, will just slide out. The reason they are used with rollerblading is that asphalt won't let your hands slide so you will get lacerations on your hands and possibly break your wrists.

I'd still use something on ice as well, hockey gloves are great for both roller and ice, they just give us a little more of a secure feeling should you fall. Both the ice and ground are hard so naturally having some type of glove or protection for your hands is not a bad idea! same with knees, simple volleyball, bike, or skateboard pads for knees (if your not wearing your goalie equipment that is)

Well, the problem is usually I'm playing goalie while I'm on my rollerblades, and me parent's requirement of wrist guards prevents me from using my glove and blocker, which is even more of a problem. I normally would just stop using them, but I actually want to get used to moving around somewhat like on ice.

I understand your parents don't want you to get hurt......that said, do they watch you play roller hockey? Can you take them with you to the game, and "forget" to put them on? No one will see under your gloves.....

Take the plastic out of the wristguards. Odds are they wont notice.

Have you ever sat down and had a serious heart to heart with your parents?
As a parent myself its easy to forget what being a kid was like and sometimes you just get stuck on an idea, but dont really think about the affect on the kid.
If their reasonable and you show them how much it means to you im sure they will bend a bit.

Tell your parents your friends are calling you a fairy for wearing them.
