Nice. How does it effect y our mobility while standing? I know on the ice something as small as raised stitching can cause sliding issues and a bad strap layout can be an issue while shuffling. Anything like that with this setup?

Arthritic it is called UHWM or Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), also known as high modulus polyethylene (HMPE) or high performance polyethylene (HPPE), is a thermoplastic and has a good molecular bonding to make it strong but is very slipery, now not as slipery as teflon but it is also not as expensive as teflon.

takes abit to get use too but i found that it did not interfere at all with my standup and shuffling was fine....I was not very good at the sliding in them but my friend who tried them out could slide just fine, not as good as on ice but he did ok.
Very cool idea indeed...roller as come such a long way from when I played it back in the mid 90's. They even have dedicated goalie skates now...unlike when I played and we used to fab up our own contraptions...lol. I used an old pair of my Bauer 4000's and cut the cowls off them and had lowered roller chassis mounted. Unlike most of today's goal skates that use minimal copper rivets...mine used all copper rivets so that they would hold up better. I used to run a four wheel system with Extreme Glue's for the front wheel to help with push outs and the back 3 wheels were Extreme Hard wheels so that I could still slide on them. For the size...they were all 59mm with Swiss bearings. I still have the skates in the garage as a keep sake...my buddies all get a kick out of them...lolol. They look like something Forest Gump would have skated in...lol
I play/used to play with Frenchie all the time. Him and his brother used to stay at my family's house when they came to Bend, OR for hockey tournaments. :D I still see him at Narch all the time. Such a nice guy and amazing at inline. :D I also have played in Langley a lot, such a small world.
Glad to see people stick up for inline hockey in this forum. I never understood why ice hockey world would turns its back on inline. A great example is that Shaun White snowboards and skateboards. They are different yet the same. And, the same applies for both with slight variations. He rocks at both... Inline provides such a unique opportunity for goalies to practice being fast and quick without cheating to the butterfly or being stagnant (no offense intended). You can't just push there in your butterfly, you have to get up and get there! It is great cross training.
I started on inline, trained in ice, I love both, achieved a very high level in both, and it is easy for me to switch back and forth. But, I find more inline goalies I know become great ice goaltenders. Tim Thomas, one of the great goalies of our time, describes his style (unorthodox, yet extremely effective) as a roller hockey goalie style. Gagner and Ryan are both from inline and have great NHL careers.
I love this forum. Continue on with the awesomeness. Inline =![]()
