Checkout YouTube. Search for James Tanner. He's a inline goalie with all kinds of drills and a solid toe tie method

I use the Ultimate toe tie system, no lace gets caught up and the toe tie is always the same length. Great for switching between inline and ice as well.
Only downfall is that the lace rubs on the front of the inline chassis and wears it through so need to be replaced every couple of months (I play 3 - 4 times a week). I have taken to putting some electrical tape around the lace to extend the time between needing to redo it.

A friend of mine did show me a single lace system, I can't remember how to do it thought, I'll ask him again and try and get the info on here for you all.
