This is a clip of me 3 months into being a career beer league goalie. At 6 foot 6 and 300lbs lets say I aint the fastest guy between the pipes. Equipment courtesy Steve Valiquette formerly of the New York Rangers! Meet Steve when I first started and was willing to hook me up with all of his gear! No Jock guys!
Another clip of me 3 months into being a career beer league goalie.
WOW soo lucky to get an nhl'er's gear! now by hook up do you mean sell or to give away?
No jock? Good lord man, that's the second most important piece of equipment we wear.
Yeah I know.
When have you ever known me to be serious anyways?
that is sweet that you got hooked up with his gear! Never a bad deal when you are starting out
Keep your stick in front of your 5-hole when you go down.
R.I.P. Juston Walker, #61 forever. Gone but not forgotten; forever in our hearts. Miss you tons
I no Longer use Valiquette's Gear. He only has one break in his pads and I found it really difficult to play with them. They are on display in my man room (basement).
Great story.
I bought some low level gear when I decided to play goal. Being a 6 ft 6 I had a tough time finding new NHL spec gear that was big enough for my hands. I had watched Valiquette play in the minors a few years back and found that he had a website. I emailed him asking if he pro returned any of his stuff to a local store since he was from Toronto. He emailed me back 20 minutes later and told me he had a bunch of stuff in his basement that he thought I could fit into. I was only looking for a Glove and Blocker but a couple months later I met Valiquette at his parents house, had a few beers and he gave me 2 catchers, a blocker, pads, chest protector and pants. I tried to give him money for the gear but he said "NO!" We hung out for about an hour just talking about hockey.
Great down to earth guy! Never hurts to ask.
