Thanks for the good luck wishes, but unfortunately, didn't happen. I am glad my gf said she didn't want to tape it as well. Wouldn't call it the best game I ever played.

Holy crap. Well good luck, man. And also good luck talking the girlfriend into it. In my experience every time my mom or girlfriend/wife taped me, it came out terrible, haha. Much happier with the GoPro in my net or even just setting up the Flip along the glass, haha.

My game saturday was to pretty much lock up 2nd place. Win we get second, lose they get second. Wasn't bad but wasn't great. The other goalie had a rough night as he popped his shoulder out at one point, then returned and took a slapper off the clavicle. Game was delayed a bit but he ended up finishing. My camera man forgot to hit record for the third so the video is only first and second periods. Enjoy and critique, I have been struggling as of late so anything may help.
Nice work, looks like you play the puck really well too.
Good Focus.
Very solid overall. Just one recommendation..I think you should work on patience when it comes to dropping. It applies for a lot of situations, too.
Challenge yourself in situations where it doesn't matter (practice, shinny, etc) to read the height of the shot. If it's waist high or above, stay up to make the save and vice versa.
Not only on high shots, but stand up until the shot is 100% imminent. It will save you from a lot of the rebounds that go off your shoulders, the goal at 2:12ish, etc.
It will give you a much more active mind in general. A lot of goalies drop way too early just because it's a habit and it's unnecessary.
It's something that I've been working on all year. I think it has improved my overall poise and puck tracking.
Thanks for the advice. Going down early and often has been a long time problem of mine. The videos on here are the only video I have of myself and I really just started doing it this year. When I was a student at MTN they hadn't incorporated the video sessions in yet. Now with that being said, I have seen in the videos that my patience for low shots is ok. I stay up long enough and am not down before the release and sometimes make the save before im 100% down....but when it comes to high shots..I think I have the same tendencies minus the staying up to make the save part...In this video the shoulder save at 2:25, I was half up half down, and if you are good at pausing you can see the puck half way to me and Im still up, but at the end of the save, Im down...So I realllly dont know how to improve this issue??? Its hard to practice anything because well we dont practice. I try play rec with the old pros when I can, but usually a fellow MTN instructor is across from me and we go to battle, so theres no time to screw around haha.
That goal at 2:12 was horrendous haha, my d man that came into the shot is the fastest skater I may have ever seen. He caught that kid from a mile away.. and then somehow the guy got the shot off it went off my d man's skate then his knee and in the net.. thats why i slowed it down because it was ridiculous... You are still right with your comments though..I could have played it a lot better
Let me know what you do for patience on high shots. At MTN we really only have one tip and thats when the shot is from outside the top of circles, read the release and make the appropriate save whether it is below belly button(go down) or above(stay up).
Thanks again for the tip
Looking really solid! Love the battle half way through the video where they think they score and you pull out the goal line stand!!
you win or lose by the way you choose
Finally had a home game ! First game of second round of playoffs and we came out flat. Lost it 4-3 for our 4th loss of the season(bad timing). Had some bad luck but also should have just played better. In the second, someone sat in front of the camera but when they scored you could actually see it and the goal was just awful luck. The fourth goal too, not sure if you can see but when he tried to swat the puck he hit me in the face, technically shouldn't have counted but refs are imperfect. Threw a gorgeous shot of me skating and also a nice spear since the video was lacking haha
