Hey man, Nice work out there! You look fundamentally sound, the speed is all you need now. Maybe try and sit up a bit more in your butterfly, but its not bad.

Your form is good, as rfalls said.. just the speed is the next step, but being accurate on your movement is much more important. How old are you?

    Really good things:
    - rebound control was near perfect on the shots you stopped.
    - excellent fundamental movement, you look really natural out there
    - solid VH
    - very impressive butterfly slides
    - good recovery speed

    Things to work on:
    - Strength on the long T-pushes. Make sure you get a good load to get you all the way over.
    - A couple times in the 3rd drill you were dropping as soon as you got there/as you were still coming over. That'll improve with speed, but try to avoid dropping so soon. It becomes easier for a shooter to fake you out.
    - Make sure you turn your head to follow the puck into your glove/blocker... a few times when it went glove side you would've only been following it with your eyes (because your helmet didn't turn at all)

Very very good especially with your arms staying in position getting up; just looked a little bit gassed during the drill which maybe slowed down your speed some. You guys had been on the ice for a while before the camera rolled? Does your coach, who does a good job, also teach springing to your feet using both legs?

On a side note, the sliding butterfly scares the hell out of me in a game - what does the tender do if the shooter keeps his head up and skates in while the tender slides on past?

Fullright - you learn to get the other leg up, fast and push back. Most shooters, when rushed, won't have time to react and make the move to get past you. After practicing for a while, you adjust how strong you need to push over and not overslide the puck.

Video looks good man. Do you play for Auburn? And how large is your thigh rise? Those rises look massive.

    well duh...:)

back on topic, very cool video. forgot to ask: why the change in trappers/catching gloves?

since you're in Alabama, I'll guess you're familiar with the custom of throwing chicken bones at Talladega so if the crowd aint throwing 'em at you, you're doing good. :)

Hey guys. Thanks for all the comments! Speed and power are things that I realize I need to work on. I also need to work on my stamina...yes, I was gassed at times out there. I don't play for Auburn, but I do coach them. I'm 36 and play in the local adult league. Thanks again for all the input!
