Controlling the rebound by placing your stick in the way of the puck is one of the easiest ways. This causes the puck to deflect up and over out of harms way. Pay attention to the recovery as well, you need to get up and get to that post right away.
Make sure you to not kick out your leg pad when making a leg save. It should be extended out sideways instead of a kicking motion outwards. This will make the puck go into the corner and not back out front for a second chance.
How you angle your pads is important as well.
Body Cradling is one of the best ways to stop a rebound that is directed anywhere on your chest protector.

Maybe he is using 12" pads?
Ok right off I can say I'm totally guilty of leg kicking instead of leg extension. And not bringing the stick around. Great video! (Haven't watched the rest yet but will later). Thanks for posting!
These are the ones I was watchign on youtube. Gold In The Net, Alexanders Trainging and a couple of others have been huge in showing me where I am going wrong, trouble for me is, unless I see it and have some one correct me on ice I forget in game time!
yeah but if you dont corrected in the first place then you dont kow your doing wrong! or how to make things easier, or more effeciant! I am going to suck it up and get some coaching soon!
Scottish, if you can afford it definitely get some personal coaching. I did for a while and it made an enormous difference. Simply the repetition alone was awesome because it really does become muscle memory. But it was also great to have someone telling me exactly what I should be doing (and showing me, and reinforcing it through drills), and correcting things and making minor adjustments. It's a HUGE help and it's a big mental boost too when you're in a game and do something completely without thinking about it and go "Oh!!! That's how its supposed to work!"
Just be ready to get your butt kicked physically. I remember at one point we took a quick break and I was gasping for breath and said to my coach "this is what happens when you coach a 32 year old". He replied that I work a lot harder than some of the kids he coaches, so he's fine with that. If I had the money I'd be back on the ice with him in a second- it's definitely worth it.
I have jello legs from todays practice.

I've been having a lot of trouble with stick positioning when deflecting the puck so I have been getting lit up because of short rebounds but I don't know whether its hand eye coordination or reaction time etc.
