This is a discussion on Pop-Ups within the Video Training forums, part of the The Clinic category; I have a huge issue with this... can't do it worth a damn....

Which part? All of it? Or the sliding?

I can do the pop-ups, but it was easier for me with smaller pads. Even though my current ones are much lighter, they're longer and and I'm still getting used to being mobile with them.

And I'm still trying to get my slide on. I don't have any practice ice time, so I only have 5 minutes of warm-up to work on it.

I was talking about the pop up part, hence the title of the thread.

i can do both. but doing one leg before the other is FAR easier. looks like this guy still does one leg before the other ever so slightly until the one pad is cleared, then the other goes up. probly doesnt help but thats what i can see of it.

it sucks when you are a beer leaguer you do not have (or at least i don't) have practice sessions to work on movement/technique etc. other than a little bit of warm up before the game. i plan on building a back yard rink when it gets cold enough to work on this kind of stuff.

Pop ups aren't that useful really. It's much easier to recover getting up with the proper leg and pushing into position. One thing that helps is sharp skates.

Goalie schools don't seem to be as common here in Alberta. I think you should open one here! I'll sign up for sure

There's absolutely nothing within an hour of where you live.
