There isn't too many that give you tips on it, mostly just practice, and trying to figure out when you leave it, or when you rim it.

thanx, i noticed there wasnt many out there. i just picked up the prohybrid training vol.1 dvd. they teach you play it with the overhand grip but that feels so awkward.

The overhand grip is the best way to do it in my opinion. There is a reason why Marty Turco is the best puck handling goalie in the league. His grip has become the norm with today's goalies.

I have very good puck control with the traditional underhand version and can shoot very well on my forehand and decent on my backhand, I will use the overhand method if Im going to backhand it as it is much more powerfull and accurate. Practice, Practice, Practice. that is all there is to it. just takes time. I think much also has to do with the catch you are using, mine is very old and broken in.

Over the next month or two Mind The Net goaltending will be putting together, and posting, instructional videos on puckhandling. Some of the topics will include:

Basic Stickhandling, Passing and Shooting for Goaltenders
    Playing Rims
    Playing Dump-ins (Ranging)
    Aggressive Puckhandling Tactics

Note: Titles are subject to change.

It may seem like a long time to wait, but we are just getting into doing the instructional videos and it takes time to figure out the best ways to put the videos together as well as scripting the voice over, etc.

Remember you better do it with an HD camera. All these older videos look so dated in the old format.
